Student Conduct
COSMOS participants are expected to behave with respect towards fellow students, faculty, resident assistants and the UCI campus. Students must read and sign a code of conduct. COSMOS reserves the right to dismiss a student for cause.
Residence Hall Policies
When you move into Middle Earth, you are both tenant and guest. By accepting the invitation to become a member of COSMOS, you make a commitment as a student and as a member of a residential community. You and your roommate agree to jointly maintain your room in a clean, safe, sanitary condition. You are officially checked in when you accept a key to your assigned room and are therefore subject to all residence requirements as established by COSMOS and UCI.
- Please observe all regulations regarding quiet hours and lights out. Students must be in their rooms by 10:30pm and respect their roommate’s need for sleep.
- Your assigned room is for the exclusive use of you and your assigned roommate. No off-campus guests are allowed in the residence halls except for those assisting you on move-in day or departing campus on closing day. You may not have visitors or family members stay overnight.
- Any damage you cause to your rom beyond that arising from normal wear will be your responsibility to pay.
- You may not switch or change your assigned room.
- In the event of a vacancy in your room, you will be assigned either a new roommate or to a new room.
- NOT permitted in the residence halls: cooking appliances of any kind, fireworks, firearms, or any type of weapon (including toy replicas), any type of drug, alcohol, skateboard, rollerblades, scooters, skates, bicycles, or pets.
- UCI reserves the right to have the COSMOS staff or Middle Earth staff enter your room at any time to make necessary inspections for service, maintenance, repairs, or security.
- Smoking or vaping of any kind is not permitted!
- Open flames (including candles and incense), combustible decorations, and multiple electrical adapters are prohibited in your room.
