What to Bring

Students are responsible for their personal needs and should bring personal items that will make their stay more comfortable. Each room has only a bed, desk, chair, and closet for each student. Each student will also receive one pillow, one pillowcase, two sheets, one blanket, one towel, and one washcloth. Dorm rooms are basically empty except for furniture.

Essentials

  • Clothes for both hot and cool weather and business attire for Poster Presentation Day and Closing Ceremony
  • Comfortable shoes (sneakers), sandals with back strap, and shower flip flops (flip flops are not allowed outside of dorms)
  • Toiletries or any other personal items (soap, shampoo, toothbrush, etc.)
  • Debit or credit card to use for washer/dryer (Debit cards can be pre-paid. Machines do not take cash.)
  • Laundry detergent
  • Medications, e.g. Tylenol, Pepto Bismol (COSMOS staff will not be allowed to administer any medications so students should bring anything they may need.)
  • Spending money (for vending machines, bookstore, snacks, souvenirs, etc.)
  • Alarm clock
  • Small fan (the dorms do not have A/C)
  • Swimsuit, sunscreen, beach towel
  • Backpack
  • Clothes hangers
  • A positive attitude!

Optional

  • Reusable water bottle (Highly recommended. There are filling stations across campus and in the dorms.)
  • Camera
  • Board games
  • Snacks (water, soft drinks, chips, microwave popcorn, granola bars, etc.)
  • Your favorite pillow! (Dorms provide a blanket, 2 sheets, pillow and pillowcase, one washcloth, and one towel. These items must be left on bed at checkout.)
  • Laptop computer or e-readers

Do Not Bring

  • Your car! You will not be allowed to park on campus.
  • Valuables (No expensive watches, jewelry, lots of cash, etc.)
  • Weapons, fireworks, candles
  • Cigarettes, alcohol, e-cigs, vapes, or drugs
  • Skateboards, rollerblades, bicycles, or Razor scooters (or equivalent)
  • Pets

The University will not be responsible for lost or stolen property in the residence halls.
